LESORA MONS

LE´SORA MONS(Mont Lozère), a summit of the Cévennes, above 4800 feet high, is mentioned by Sidonius Apollinaris (Carm. 24, 44) as containing the source of the Tarnis ( Tarn):-- Hinc te Lesora Caucasum ScytharumVincens aspiciet citusque Tarnis.

The pastures on this mountain produced good cheese in Pliny's time ( H. N. 11.42), as they do now. Month Lozèregives its name to the French department Lozère.
